It can save stores we're live from Brookfield central high school for that tenth annual Luke Holman memorial basketball showcase. I sports pretty 157 up from fans. Makes you join its review things a little different that. At 10 o'clock in fact right now Maynard to restart with their pick and save student athlete of the week. At 11 o'clock coach's corner get the head coach and Brian Stratton college. You stopped by 1150 Jack Hewitt who this a senior at Credo more Luther on the team that I coach. Is due to join us to get some few great things talked to Jack about. And I will just talk about the slew Coleman memorial basketball showcase but I think for the first time. Guys savage whose show were gonna start whether pick in save student athlete of the week. Which student athlete is making a difference in their community and their classroom. And on the field let's make this week's pick and save high school student athlete of the week brought you by your local big saves stores they can save. There's something new every day. That its purest form of being called me for the weekend. These are guys all right guys graduate from Brooklyn Eisenhower vocal band doing multiple things. If you need be it for party I don't think that we can dot com and and you and it would have called a lot of it is guys gathered built to upgrade our pick and save student at new week this worked out for. This young man had known as that some guys and his family I know his head coach really well I'd you know it's. For much hammering Lutheran choices as it is to use or athlete's mind you bet you we've been. Is the big families are leaping in left by the way but. Dog the last blood the blood that's what you don't like I think schools and coached in that conference are happy but you don't want. It they have that being the only is it's been great he's been great ambassadors for. They sure have five. Our schools that's just it functions because of great volunteers and people just have a servants mindset than. But being Thames just one of many but that they've been around kennel for the longest time and I'll continue to serve kennel and an offer hope to cattle. Tom even though into a graduates because you know system part of there aren't very year under place to them. So what we look for and coach with our student athlete and we concede we know this show we've looked for for kids to take care of their business in the classroom. On the court and in their community. And I reached out and tired I'd say hey look we we we have somebody like that. And it worked out perfect because you guys play here today at 101030. So I thought well let me get you cuts for couple minutes before you got it warmup. But I want to congratulate you Joey. First of all three point 99999. South Micah Wright and you know my first question what happened. Freshman here you're wasn't quite ready for a European history Coughlin took it and pretty much got the best of me that's or. He might just get the best at that. It's last year teacher was who want to tell me your coach chase balls. And you want to go back and check that freshman year you know what we might think that. 23. Point 99 is phenomenal you went to school that that challenge you have to damocles Artest. And does. That's really good congratulations. And reduce your motivation for being such a good strong student athlete where does that come from. Comes a couple things I mean. Pretty much at the same on the court in the classroom first of all giving their scout with what I got giving him my best. In my family it's always been a priority. Get it done in the classroom and then working hard outside the classroom as well. My draft book passed away about a year ago so he was always and every game. Always ask me how my grades were tech and for my name in the paper for sports and honor roll and everything. So whenever I feel like the character something in on the class in the classroom on the court I think of him what he wanted me to do. While that it's. That's awesome that that doesn't surprise you what well thought out answer that is those knowledge or is just he's just humble. He does things without and here he does think that he does not want you know. But but he will go on its way to do anything from anybody at any time he just looks that's her because these. Understands how blessed he is and and he went through turn that that other people. You know joins us represented our Robert student body in general but yeah obviously is as the team that crop and on that Pittsburgh product ninth grade student in Napa but he tells access these student body president and the Eagles and mission trips and and he. He is involved these also plays and Andy Hart and performance and you make a popcorn to prepare for. I'm happy because I mean he's raised the floor and he's a great candidate for coaching that is pianist and Betsy does that in the next you know alive but don't hit it Helton in the and he does everything well it's not that he does it well George you feel. You feel pressure or just this just walk. That's who I am but through three is to be in the I feel like it's natural for me I don't mind it at all being busy all the time it's it's. My experience for our school and I haven't funded and you multi sport athlete you know soccer basketball baseball. And all conference first team and all three really that. Well this is this is our runner than to have you here I guess right you know what's going on next year yet. I don't know yet I have a couple options. Pursuing teaching is maybe an idea then going gonna be a coach to. Maybe fallen coach Johnson unify a teacher and that's awesome. Do you do you think you wanna play sports at the next level I do what which sport is the one that side accusing the best opportunity of baseball or basketball if I'd have to do both. I might. Depends Rego what so what would position he played baseball sort of a throw open but it's a little. If I hit it through it and he is judged it will public juicy but it's a little bit but it answer that he yacht. He throws it awfully well let's talk about this year's team if we can't. I know start with joy I'm looking at and I got a chance you guys. Out at the WB what shoot out and what jumps off the page we wouldn't look at your schedule and scores is me and 'cause hurt. There Anne and I and helmets held teams in the conference and tell teams in your regional that don't sleep when you guys with you look at the record you think OK they might have a little bit of a down year. And then you take a look at some of the teams that you guys are right there with. And it's like. That this could be this could end up to be really good year for your senior year you guys went and starting today against a pretty good frequent. I mean were. The beginning of the season little we don't have ton of experience were still missing a lot so. Every game you see improvement and that's really exciting to watch from my vantage point from coach advantage point. Hum so as we get going in the playoffs I'm sure it's only gonna get better. You know I've I'm familiar with what he's achieved quite you played per school in our conference play Thomas Moore played for two academies we did. On that while upon we played a lot of crossover. On teams with with Morton with there. And meant you beat Thomas Moore who's that these are tough kids man you beat for a few at a news really good. You you were real close within six or so has walked on who's really good defending state champion team. Yet you get Franklin here today at 10:30 at Brookfield central. And then you get you know in the second half of the conference while pond when economy he wants them but than you and with Plymouth and stuff rip and twice. Excellent and it snowed in direct hit that the that you know they say it's hard to be the team back to back you know credit Monday. A hole. And then I'm at Campbell sports and the season. Yes it it's it's we we came into you we had a eleven juniors not a lot of playing turns back nine season graduated you know enjoy it was was our leading guy back into it came off the bench is that as an eighth for a list yourself. You know that that takes some time is one thing to be on the team to step into leadership role and all that and I think kids finding roles that's and that that just took a little bit thousands of all things some confidence self. Our our kids are there they played hard they compete whereas we're not gonna have that you know relaxing plays that go to guy. But everybody's turn to understand what they can do to be better help the team and and will be solid defense we wouldn't even play hard green give your best shot. Luke when I watched guys played that he'd be like shoot out in in its in and watch your teams tied I know common in before it hit the four bucks to get in. I note these kids are going to play hard. They're going to be fundamentally sound. And defensively they're gonna get after it and it's to we have enough guys can score. And is always the question but I know for a fact. Because wheat coached against each other for a long time. What what I'm gonna get when they get to it coach and so to get those juniors should probably didn't utilized time you know it takes that is half the size. It does it just takes some a bit to understand intensive with takes the commitment that it takes how hard you really got to play how are you can't take possession off. You know all those things come over time is uber poem in practice with them. But that's that's just my mentality that's our schools mentality and kids and they come into the gym they just they they begin to sense a but now it's getting to do that. Enjoyed it if you want people it was in the show they might not be familiar with each centric conference and they better. Because you don't know the but everybody here at. The number one ranked team in the state of Renton that suffers defend Steve champion walked on in that conference pearl and stuff. Campbell support from Plymouth. You don't win economies down will be key wash them down all that but other than that man it is fight every night out I replace hard you never. You can't just walk into the Jim when you always got to play your hardest and I wish we could just once went to the like just wondered are those every once in awhile but the they his future's so bright coaches in it really is in enjoyed beam was her pick NC student athlete of the week what's gonna happen next week still. Is I've got your cell number and I'll I'll communicate through. Coach Johns that where we are going to Q. Meet up at a conceive. I'll near your house were but if Anders a miserable pick and save stored there. That time has a beautiful work for you. It's a nice plaque in the picture will open our website FaceBook. Of pick and say it. And we just want honored gradually he was or it's an awesome thing ever much I appreciate it got to get you guys get your fault you just look at it didn't start warming up her thumb and it cuts loose. A good look against Franklin. Thank you you've. You bet you thought I thank you very much any time you know that coach will get to break the other side of the break. We're gonna be joined by. The tent the annual Coleman memorial basketball showcase this is the Wendy's or she puts high school basketball coach show. Presented by a local and state stores aunts portrait you wanna 57 at them. The fans. And Reyes. Years it's. Welcome back to the went as far as he puts high school basketball coaches show presented by your local second save storks. We your wives had Brookfield central high school for the will Coleman the tent the annual blue Coleman memorial basketball showcase. I export treaty wanna by seven at the Ian joined now by the head basketball coach at Brookfield central DNY entry. The end you know first of all thanks for evidence out we talked about this like nine months ago and doubt we made it happen. He and I just think that this is a perfect place for us to beat. Good morning Mike your ethics were coming out. We. We thought of this I deal with blue with a homer tournament making it one day event and with the popularity of your show and and I hope vital you are so high school basketball community we thought it would be. Really nice for you guys console were were happier here and thank you for that we appreciate coverage LeMieux. Run down first team action 1030 frequently gets kind of boring Lutheran 11 o'clock we we have to Jim's going on. Homestead against west they'll steal. At 1215 at the major one show you know it's tough for screened it for the corners couldn't get the Bradley center for that game so we had played here if you treat. Creek bill Martin Luther it's my alma mater Mets. So once if you've thought about coming out watching that you might coach 1215. Effort sent to a great masters will be good their talented. Athletic and that's can be very difficult team for 1245 brown you're against she aids. 20 clock Sussex Hamilton against jumper it. With no cedar river rafting yeah it's for me for central instrument on at 415. So I Germantown play. They do not let that record for all I know they're very talented curative and receive it morally and scream yell at 5:36 o'clock mark Higgins it. 750 more peace out west central 745. Roof is Katie you've seen part. 9 o'clock and I know against those east you comp a one priced it and yeah suspended yet ten dollars for adults five dollars for students. Your year old they watch a lot of great basketball. So it's not about. Why were doing this while you're in this but it's a couple moments like it has been difficult for me. This as a young me and Ian. That his smile lit up the gymnasium. And the east used to play baseball in the east that these scum bag part crossed your house. My son Matt he's younger and he would not and torts and teach Bible. In wits and met us. As we grew as a man you plated eight basketball tournaments all over the country. Oklahoma was there. And he was his buddy's he would leave that. Come to me give me a and it adds we set the scene into each other that's cool hand Luke you shouldn't threes today. Beats it Kamal coaching know that every in every day. And when when he passed. And in what happened. Was up and we'll cross Ian he he. Ended up in the river and I don't really know if anybody will ever know how or why your any of that. But I know this kid and and you'd be in I told you this during the break mussina could bring that up and asked. And this is it is burned into my brain into my memory. Of the day if his funeral. They had an open casket. And I stood in line with the increase rowing coach Sussex Campbell and and we got up and equitable softball which your home. And I'd I'd I'd. Had a hard time with my composure and I went to hug him and he said to me coach I'm so sir you have to go through this. And if they had an open casket and he was in the water for two days. And I can't get the image of its hands out of my. In the image of of Joseph Thomas. Sitting. In the fetal position as he by the casket. And sobbed and control we I I just it it it. I just wish it never would have happened and it did. And we have to make sure I think what you guys Duke here ever feel central and the foundation does for Luke is keep his memory alive. Yeah it. I for got. A little bit I'm what do you look like news a little guy. Until late I'd I'd started going through some experts. And that these young man that would come to my door on the door and seek your best shape bibles is the picture I saw. And it's it's got to be so hard for cheering. Yet you know and you mentioned a lot of memories from that time when it was. It was extremely difficult for everyone involved. But I too. New Luc as a very young boy. And knew his parents. Long before he became a student here at central. And same types of memories of Luke seeing him in the gym shooting pockets that smile that you talked about. Patty interior are awesome people. You know I made the mistake of scheduling this great event on a weekend where they are on vacation so I apologize for that. But you know jury is still on our coaching staff. Had injured petty comes to just about every home game sits right behind our bench. There's such an important part of our program looks. Legacy and in what he's meant for Brookfield central basketball and just kinda. You know the memories that we have them and what he's lived what he lived for in and what he'd left in this program are not go away. Four for people that didn't or aren't familiar with with. With him they meet they may have heard the story what they don't know he's wouldn't believe. That he was here for such a you know what he me have had a chance to play at a high level in football loved basketball was a big time baseball. And he could depicted a lot of different ways to kill and of course we'll cross. I'm he started thinking that you know he did and decided look you know what I'd looked as you want well played basketball better. In short the camp goes. Across they basketball there. But he could've gone there're so many avenues for him good quarterback I mean big arm and it it retro when you. You know you think back to the time you know and that was before I became coach Mark Adams was the head coach the time. He did ups obviously an outstanding job with those teams but you look at the group or guys that looked good came up with. Right they were in the state football championship game a couple of times they were in the state basketball tournament three straight years. I know they won at least two conference championships if not a third in basketball. Right so you talk about Luke Luke's athletic ability he was an outstanding. Athlete in all areas and in. As you said earlier I think the thing that just. Is enduring about Luke is that personality. You know I had the opportunity does suit few words that one of his memorial services and that was the thing that I talked about that. You know he kind of transcended V news I schools to. The stories you're telling about your son Matthew I witnessed with Luke with little kids but I also saw him in the hallways and in the school and in the classroom. And in the community. Talking with adults like it was nothing he just was. It just had that personality that easy going to talk to anybody just an awesome awesome kid. You know make this commitments you know as long as I'm doing the show and your Q when that's. I'll be here that's all too drizzly we mention you know what shame on us humor me for not in this. You know last year your be fortunate we just wasn't available. But it is now and as long as you want us here. And even if we take one segment just told stories among this young man. And for people that did know him. Man he chess was. He was one of those kids one pitches and now totally you're right he could talk to you as an adult. And then he'd go with his body your talk likable guy and any comeback it just. And he was as competitive. As unified if you lose man. Hate losing I think he got that from his daddy's. I'm guessing managers carries did after what he has also I think they do well and golf class is while they do the I think it's usually about the third Monday every June. They hear from Warner you know they have it out at the legend golf course other than Randy brook yet this year it's Monday June 19 okay. So I have a seed that they had the pleasure playing in the at the last few years and it is just an outstanding human idle moment. I used it really well via. You know some of your body changes in the kind of affected the golly you wouldn't express it I've never hit it also feels body changes that I have as well and doesn't affect all. It just makes you hit it farther right which is you mentioned earlier you know and just the the komen foundation in the usage outstanding job with fundraising. Just can only give scholarships here it's its the central other schools I think laster they awarded five. Fifty dollar dollar scholarships are graduating seniors so they just really urged in involved in such a great job while want to thank you. Comfort for doing this and and were into why I'm a cut loose and got to get over that. It is legitimate throw the first ceremonial tip off you know after I don't throw it straight up. I don't know I've seen some reference to shoot a basketball Vogel straight at it does that coach streak in 100 at bats booklets are for central. I would I would love to spend more time with your team is playing Walt thank you very much yet because they're doing a nice job working really hard yeah it's great were gonna get too up breaking Mark Adams you'd join us. I the other set were you got something pretty cool with him today now we're honoring coach and all of this. Time and dedication here at central so that'll be really special attitude. So a lot of great things happen that it will continue talking about who Coleman are more more about spot showcase. With the coach mark items on the other side where this is the Wendy's. RC it's high school basketball coach show presented by your local conceive stores aren't sports ready 157 after them the fans. Oh tennis. Or. A. Welcome back to the Wendy's horse you blitz high school basketball coaches ago. We are presented by our friends at local you can save stores where why that feels central high school. For the will Coleman memorial basketball showcase. Hunts were tree 1057 F and and I might we've given him now joined by Mark Adams retired. Utley estimates that this didn't quite. Discreet. Are you retired actually I thought it was in the mind third grade Grantham is one of these junior lancer didn't go I've been coaching third stage you know answers so. It's sort of like kitten recycled I guess if you like college and what's it like I have at their record reflects well maligned try not try and do his system to hit the but he. If it's not easy to get the swing in so it's actually been fun and we've actually. Gotten better and you get stories that everything wandering wants to know some haven't fun civil listen though with this happen in this game and I. The other gaming at the other day at five seconds ago and we were up three and we had a filed against late told. My guys what you're gonna get the ball and then just follow me and my smartest player. Screech is. And I didn't have time to explain it with their great groups so it just looked at him and I put my hand on his arm and I said trust me and I'll tell you later okay. So it worked. Don't but it was judge held on it and we know that and it costs them. Hey coach we were your. Happy to be here for the tenth annual home from world fast showcase and and we're gonna get to that in a minute. What Luke Luke meant to this school in this community. But they're the age they're doing area. Pregame ceremonies please begin right around 345. Days. Four in honor of your career here at birth central and and I I commend. People who do that group who set this up for Q when that because as you know sometimes. Us coaches can forget the heat a little bit and and it meant for central for doing what they're doing today. You feel pretty good about this. He I mean nets. You know alas things they did. Here. When everything was sort of says Dunn went after I retired memo books for close man does say. Just came in here and just stood in the middle of the gym floor it's for a moment than good memories and when the other gym because that's where. Sort started Reynolds started and went into our team room in that than. Then just sort of said good bye and not today ever thought it wasn't going to be back there certainly have been watch games and that it's different yet you know it's different I had a chuckle when nine. Come now because. You get to certain points in a game. Were you remember and you say yeah almost sort of don't miss the feeling in my stomach when it sixty all in the other teams were in down for the last shot and it's. Just an uncomfortable feeling but as far as this their morning that the I mean Dan wineries. Brainchild behind him and I can't thank him enough for. Purdue in this for me and and my family and everything and and then breaker it's moniker and done. News the athletic director and temperate the principle here have been very supportive behind to. Made comes to you like it's a long time coming so. And it's nice to be remembered this pro life for the right reasons why did you let all mess that dated today. Stuff you know one thing because I've spent Tuesdays and Fridays either. Going to watch central and just watch in pick and good games are my sons of course the officials gotten out to and I watched him. And enjoyed to a man and so that sort of kept the in the loop if you wanna see a little bit but the one thing that I have noticed is. Just I agree coaches were great friends to and then been with the players are in working with them that's probably the thing and this morning thing and now he said that. Practice was my deal morning thing and after that it is the game he's just flat thanks to fill it with that. And it's little or fact is I remember in your your avenue from the student you know set. He said but going to practices is Mike that's what I really chore and a most rent. And I don't know if every coach feels that a lot of coaches feel sometimes practice session this time a year. It's getting long in the ninth but once he turns to February now you start seeing 83 weeks and mr. regionals in your go. But from mid December and go to the in January it's tough to read you know players don't like me that coached like me about why it does feel it's time. Another bat like this until you were. Ethnic yeah I mean did you just. There is precious few had gotten outta control and I always felt. Like if we took him everything practiced that maybe we didn't have to let a major adjustments in the game because. We had things didn't care and practice hopefully here's oversold my time to work and sometimes it is and so they. I'd like I talked about some stories and outlook homer touched my life. In in this kind of fringe way he was just one of those kids that you root for. On the always had a smile he was as competitive a kid if you're ever gonna wanna meet didn't like lose in the at all and he was emotional about it. But in I don't know if you heard this they told us in the the last segment whatever Jim I was in in the country in a U basketball. My son Matthew a couple of years younger than he was he would leave his group more can be about. And I'd say cool hand Luke shoot threes today and eighth seed Vermont goes to Maine every day and put this big smile and go his way that go mind. It but I've I've rooted for him all the time so when that happened that tragedy happened. It just. I think that he's up people that it Jordan watch him was it in and I know here for a few central. Yeah he. I always eat and I talk about the first word that comes to mind is the passion he had for the game. Immediate more action and new players that ever votes and my first involvement with him was. It's by teachers that was you know elementary school and I had him. In the fifth and sixth grade and we talked about competitive than it did make a difference what the team one that could have been adult or whatever. I mean when it went 3040 minutes was up he whispering in that and he wanted to win there. And older figures story of my son come home one night eight months. Late and I mean this win at a high school and and so was moved in they had met up overs here by accident than we wanted to go one on one for awhile and however happen I don't know someone beat him in the team and who would not let him leave. Until he got the best two out of three and once he got that second one he said okay it's got. See you later spectacle and and so that's illicitly got one more victory I it's still easy that would have been there and do what. And a another when he story to him this when my coach knows this more the first through went sectional finals playing with the Yankees. And so our team was warm enough for west L central heat's coach Stan mentioned Luke and in some New Hampshire this. Went right over from their bench started hearing threes. And you beat to service the real problem because of scouting and they but it just couldn't believe. But he has come a moment it was it can mean. And the stats and make it like that so. He was that he was really something close them which which. Talk about. Shoot to get in touch you since it who Covert you may have invented the baton it's. He was not shot well enough alone he comes over half court in out audience and right now on our old gym over here Reid. Clayton schemes and that there's there's only answer shields. To some of the past half court I didn't know what the distance with the when it's got at least thirty feeders so. And he was well known for dropping the Cuban team from critical to that's not too so. It was it was which that we've student for him that's here. Know mark in in that we're talking to Mark Adams. He is the former retired. That that's what coach here or central they have a ceremony for him under his rear accurate for central he could begin around 345 today. Accurate judge inept recruit central's tenth annual home and worry about what showcase. You like it's my school basketball. Five bucks for students templates for adults there's schemes all the way but in fact the last team that starts today it's nine bought. On April 9 or it's quote oh he's huge he has to watch a lot of high school really good. High school basketball if you get here you make it your right 345. And and sneak in the ceremony from work and well deserved it. He and let that they're doing this. I don't want to end our our segment on the tough no but I will limit hold do you want this. I will never forget. That the funeral. I'll never forget that the weight and an open basket and we're did nightly news means. He's been in the water and he. And I will I don't know if that was if that was done on purpose for us to number and be careful and and make sure that we talk about. I've told so many people about it. That it's itself the minute that. I can't get over and when when it out of line when you're home and sit to me I've story got to go through this so. And to see shall promise. In the fetal position by that I just I'll never forget this stuff marked. And I love the fact that for a few central. Once this and I told the and that is it wants he'll have a school complex if you wolf they've got a way to combat your year. And make sure that we're doing what we hear it from aren't. To never forget this young man community mental but this will this mean you bet. You have guys the funeral. One last thing they said was that as long as I was the head coach. In his honor we're gonna start doing this tournament and I'm just real happy that Dan is the team with this team. Intentions of continued Honolulu. And pay interior. Stearns has just been great supporters of basketball. While he was here and then since he's. Past they continue to be that way and carry on the coaching staff your soul. And it's great that we can continue to honor and this was years. How. He could shoot weighs on her belt of staying out right now plates are rebel against theory in glad days are bumps and off him you know it was a joke when. And no chance she's got a ways to board ended up well hey congratulations. On again being on your day. It's a pre game ceremony slated for romped by. Reception of follow through graduation. Ace got roughed by the guys that you can be here today do in. Six them every day. He's good guys and allow themselves go as coaches we always for me and I know yours but if for reference in the right position. And sells all got no notice she's. He's the right position so we all think he's good yeah it's kind of are you ever left in the family knows that it. After I look at it and completely differently I tell you that all of us that you wouldn't you feel that you don't know if there are very proud snuck. I understand it a little bit better now but Matthews Marquez against it is you know you two might that we get to operate right richter. He's they had bats well put brightens threatened to sit here if you were up at some bats well but they were gonna talk to him and thanked him. For up Brian Stratton is sponsor coach Warner and we'll talk to Brian on the other side of the break. This is the Wendy's or sleepless high school that's well coached show on sports Radio One 057 of them that they. Do you ever wonder why a coach does what he does. What's his coaching philosophy from offense or defense to special teams it's time for the coach's corner. Brought to you by the Brian Stratton college athletic department. Why. FaceBook dot won't be put in my whole picture. Good being in Buffalo homestead football coaches we might somewhat. John Bonner went big legal minds. In the Amazon or three weeks. Also want to thank front straight college athletics there a sponsor of this segment and I got it right this vote bonus that it's gotten a lot of play. We we have quotes come on in the talk about their program. And then they also talk about the rules they QID daily weekly basis. To make your team better in his coaches we steal. Every putting stroke man. We're joined now keep up with certain it's the head basketball coach. At Bryant College is right worker rights because you both politics and having me again like appreciate it. Think first and foremost thank you for for umps sponsoring this segment sure I tell you that. We we steal everybody's hopes Mets were right approaches every once in while balloon that one but I'll attachments in emails every week. Coach to say and it natural that that guy had and on your right threatened coached Warner. Can you said that Mir can you take notes on it and this segment of them really well so Kent State guys that play Stratton. I'm without it he'd just been a tough first year you you know but. You start something from that right or write if know that first year as the tough. Right what that then everything starts to roll. And it certainly is a tough first year. You know we're going through February phrase mean to look that Mike in the as you sit for a few programs you can you can see that a lot but you know what. We're looking pretty future we always have we always will be. No woman took this program and to his goal in this mission we said from day one that you know the first year we're not really playing for much were set the standards. We're just gonna move forward and you know this year has been a little bit of a struggle in terms of of of establishing a mission but. We're always looking positive. We will the next year in the third year I guarantee you make we will compete for a national championship. I would not bet against. I hope not I would I would doubt that gets you and what I've loved Apollo. If we had this conversation I'm here and often here very self. Like talked to a college basketball coach who's the work missed this their mission statement. This is what our mission is and you know what we're gonna set sting enters your one. But the fact that he's that it would. We're not gonna have to play a lot of home runs first your we'll get we'll get there would venture will will get back to be but. What you're doing it you're setting the standards. So guess what the guys that are last year I'd this year. It's open he hits it but you come up players. That's it you're not human. Read all of the leaders right absolutely you know little standards and we used to dimensions you know although though sometimes as a hard to establish himself but. You know as a head coach you have to set those especially from from. From the day one in from year one that. Every kid now from that comes into it to Brian Trent can realize that this is the real program this of the program that definitely was set standards. He what we hold off from minute to play in the National Anthem for. Coleman. Tournament here. X military actually Giants stood right stats. I have losers have trained well I've. I realized OK okay which it's gonna top that story about that. He weird fact in the court ahead of us. Is out homestand against west Alice hill and my cohost for the baseball showed squad by Dave marked and David so it's good to see you. We are joined by pride records. He is men's basketball coach at Wright and straight college. We were talking about setting steadier and mission you know the mission statement of what your program is in the B. No more competitive as well which is and and we're looking to win every team every game and it's so it's gotta be difficult place to seal it looked. We're almost there and try to win as many people we need what's more important. To set the program up for success your three. Right you got established that winning culture and in you know. Sometimes it's hard and sometimes you know you like I told you guys on the air a couple of couple weeks ago you looked on the bench and boy. You know you got some players that thank you get in there and in and get the job done get that W however you know what I'm not gonna do it. Right you know but but that you know I'm we're just. Again we're building for the future we're looking we're looking forward and you know in year two and three inform we're gonna look back and price smile on this a laugh a little bit and say you know what we went through some growing pains that you know it was all. For this mission right here. It's funny. Right because when you look at any burst your program and start a program like yours. The area your place in the count one. Do whatever it takes a lot of wins at first you're into that with your 34. Or what I think it's the right way and that's my mental skills. What were you doing here is we've been at work and be competitive your one. If we'll accept these standards. What if you look back what happens to the guys he would have him do whatever it takes to win dollar first and Ian. They're not with that program your three and right as they haven't set any sense to. Correct you gotta it's like revolving or that. Know you're a kid to come in and it just a winning culture that that's that's. Based upon when it's only right and you're not really helping the young man in life and in in the future than a month for four year colleges and cinema for life and marriage and workforce and and what life is really about and you know what we're taking the different approach and I think that approach is to winning approach in. You know with Grotrian delivered this year I'm fine with dad and my administration is fine with that and we're moving forward and I guarantee you with this mission that we're. That we've established this year it will definitely helpful for the future. Yeah I. That hey let's talk a little bit report it to a break serve a ball. They beat when you go talk to hit about coming right strength your dorm elevator pitch your. You know your couch gets when you're in the dead the living room what do you mean it's his first kid from this series to be able to Brian Stratton. Well you know if and when things you gonna get exposed feud sometimes. As a freshman you go right away to the big big campus you're not ready for you not ready for it academically not ready for it socially. Or physically so. You know you come north with two years to get everything established. And all three of those bases. And we send you one in you born there is a man now known as the boys right so you know I think that's that's important. You talked about getting close but these guys have to understand this is immune best. This division teacher here took you look at your schedule and and there are some really difficult teams on that schedule and then you look at your roster. And you're right now where are you by the kids from Wisconsin area. That book that you are its chance played the Mets wobble yet we keep Scotland beat Serbia. But for the rest right now by the kid from from Milwaukee area you know slightly cheaper that. Area and you're given these kids a chance if they're willing to come in due to work. The benefits they get after yours credible because the network you. All right well you know and I've established those those contacts throughout my years you know point by music coaching. You would think that I I'd I'd better have some context established and all the tail and I've had. I've drama years you know it's a phone call and you know what's in the door for some of these kids in. But that what they have to realize Mike though is a student athlete. Is it. It's a hard job. He is missing today's world. They got so many distractions right now in the real world but I think right now you know word word worse publishing everything we're helping these kids onward we find. We're gonna talk a little bit about your roster and then him and had it was ruler to it is of Brian's strength birds Warner. That you guys two and a daily basis of Reggie we've been so much and we'll well we'll that would Brian record u.'s head men's basketball coach. And Brian Stratton college this is the Wendy's horse he blitzed high school basketball coach shall presented. By your local it can save stores on sports Radio One 057 at them. The fans.
